THE WAY HOME is non-denominational, and is open to women of any color, race or creed, who have made a commitment to do what is necessary to change their lives. We believe that 12-Step programs lead drug, alcohol and other addicted persons, along a path on a journey to a better way of life. Women in recovery will find a clean and safe place to live, one that will build a new life with a strong foundation to insure a positive and productive future. THE WAY HOME is Christ-centered house, it provides nurturing experience to enable the development of coping and social skills needed for life in the community. THE WAY HOME requires guests to show proof of attendance at 12-Step meetings or Bible studies, have a mentor or sponsor. Our home does fellowship in AA and NA halls and clubs. The way home guest do daily devotionals.

House Rules for Safe, Clean and Sober Living

THE WAY HOME management has found the following rules workable and that acceptance of these rules is essential. These rules may be amended or modified at the weekly house meeting.

You must be familiar with, and comply with, these House Rules.

  • Your monthly or weekly cost is payable on or before it is due. If the cost is 48 hours late, or you have not been heard from, immediate discharge will result
  • The houses must be kept as alcohol and drug free places to live. You must not use or possess drugs or alcohol, either on or off the premises. Your prescription medications are to be registered with the manager. All guest are subject to random drug and alcohol testing and a property search. If you refuse a search or test, or if drugs or alcohol are found or detected, automatic discharge will result.
  • Make time for daily devotionals
  • Cleanliness starts with yourself, shower daily, and keep your personal living area clean and orderly. Do not hang anything on lamps, doors, doorknobs, furniture, or wall fixtures. Be considerate of your roommates and others. Wash your clothes and bedding regularly. Laundry hours are from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
  • Each house must be kept clean and tidy; this is done by the assignment of daily chores, all are assigned chores on a weekly rotation basis. Your chores must be done daily! Every effort must be made to complete chores as early as possible in the day. If you have a 24-hour pass, assigned chores must be done before leaving. Guests not complying with these requirements will be asked to leave
  • Cleanliness is a must! Clean up after yourself in the bathroom, kitchen, living room and patio. Do not leave dishes in the sink or any other area of the house, clean them and stow them in your allocated space. Wipe the counters and stove clean after using them
  • Are allowed a maximum 24-hour pass, provided they are in good standing with management. Must give 24-hours notice to get a pass. If after 24 hours there has not been any contact made with staff, or if not been seen or heard from, the guest will be discharged immediately
  • A front door key may be issued for a $20 refundable deposit. Lock doors and windows when leaving in the morning and evening. The front door is to be locked at all times. Do not unlock the door to anyone you do not know, that includes neighbors: always check with the house manager
  • Past guest's are not allowed in the house unless the manager approves and is present
  • Attitude and Behavior: a good positive attitude is important. Guest with a continuously poor attitude toward Staff, or to other members, will be asked to leave. Guest are expected to abide by any reasonable request made by staff. Guest must not go into the private space of others without that person’s permission. Keep window curtains drawn while dressing, and in the evening. DO NOT go out the front of the house unless fully dressed. Be considerate of roommates and others with respect to such as noise, lights and privacy
  • Respect others property. NO STEALING! Theft is cause for immediate expulsion and may result in legal proceedings
  • The house must be a safe place to live: threatening or dangerous behavior and/or deliberate abuse to house property will be cause for immediate expulsion and may result in legal proceedings
  • Managers are the only persons allowed to bring mail in from the mailbox. Mail will be held for a maximum of 7 days, and will then be returned to the Postal Service
  • Automobiles on the property: drivers must be licensed and insured. Cars must have current registration. Auto repair on the premises is not permitted without management permission
  • Telephone use: there is a ten-minute time limit to any call: (10 minutes on then 10-minutes off)! All guest answering the phone will call the guest asked for or will take a message and place it in the appropriate slot. Do not give any phone callers names or information about guest
  • There will be no mail to the house from Jail or Prison
  • Your relationships with others in the house should be that of a typical family, we are sisters in the same house. Associations other than as sisters will be cause for expulsion
  • Curfew: 10:00 pm every night of the week and weekends. When returning be considerate of your roommates and other.
  • Mandatory meetings for all guest: Three 12-Step meetings and or Bible Study, with proof of attendance, each week. A weekly house-rules meeting
  • Visitors are allowed on Saturdays and Sundays from Noon till 5:00 PM ONLY! The visiting areas are restricted to the living room, dining room, and the back porch
  • Keep a record of what you earn, you may be asked to show proof of earnings
  • If you have anything that you consider of value: TV, radio, jewelry, etc, do NOT keep them here; The Way Home is NOT responsible for lost or stolen property
  • Personal Property: There is a two-bag personal property limit for all guest entering The Way Home house. That is any combination of duffel bags, suitcases, plastic bags, etc.
  • Personal property is brought into the house at your own risk. Lending or borrowing from other guest is to be avoided. Personal property left at the house seven (7) days after discharge will be donated to the house. If contact is made with staff prior to 7 days, property will be held up to fifteen (15) days maximum
  • Smoking is permitted only in designated areas (the back porch and back yard). Smoking is not allowed inside the house or in front of the house. Do not leave burning cigarettes unattended. Dispose of your ash and cigarette butts in the safe-disposal butt cans.
  • Bottled water ONLY is allowed in the bedrooms and the living room
  • Fire and Earthquake safety: Read and understand the posted information on Fire and Earthquake. You must become familiar with the designated escape routes, safe gathering locations and the need for a safe location head count. Fire and earthquake drills will be conducted at regular intervals. Fire prevention is everyone’s concern and responsibility. Practice safe habits, smoke only in designated areas, and be aware of the fire extinguisher locations, and how to use them for small fires only. Know how and when to call 911. Emergency information and a head-count in/out board are posted near the front door
